Mit dem "Kleinen Schwarzen"

gebe ich dem Quadrat 2025 Raum und suche interessierte Mitstreiter/Innen.

Es ist nichts anderes als ein gleichseitiges und gleichwinkliges Rechteck. In der Ausgewogenheit und Klarheit kommt es dem Kreis in seiner Wahrnehmung sehr nahe. Es scheint im Alltag so präsent zu sein, dass es kaum noch als Besonderheit wahrgenommen wird, obwohl es seit Jahrhunderten sprachlich als Metapher im Dauerkonflikt mit der Quadratur des Kreises steht.

Seinen Siegeszug begann das Quadrat im 20.Jahrhundert als Erdbeben in der Kunstgeschichte. Ein einfaches Quadrat auf einem weißen Stück Stoff. Kasimir Malewitsch (1879 - 1935) hat damit bewusst oder unbewusst ganze Künstlergenerationen verwirrt und beeinflusst. Malewitsch selbst nannte es die „reinste Form der Abstraktion“! Und diese Form von Abstraktion oder Reduktion des Blickes auf das Wesentliche im öffentlichen Raum auf Föhr, dem Festland und dem Rest der Welt zu präsentieren ist Avantgarde, Teilhabe, Wiederspruch und Diskurs zugleich. Kein einfaches Unterfangen. Aber was ist und war schon an  und mittels der Kunst einfach?

It is nothing other than an equilateral and equiangular rectangle.  In its balance and clarity, it comes very close to the circle in its  perception. It seems to be so present in everyday life  that it is hardly perceived as a special feature, although it has been centuries as a linguistic metaphor in constant conflict with the squaring of the circle. The square began its triumphal march in the 20th century as an earthquake in art history. A simple square on a white piece of fabric. Kasimir Malewitsch (1879 - 1935) consciously or unconsciously confused and influenced entire generations of artists. Malewitsch himself called it the "purest form of abstraction"! And to present this form of abstraction or reduction of the gaze to the essential in the public space on Föhr, the mainland and the rest of the world is avant-garde, participation, contradiction and discourse at the same time. Not an easy endeavour. But what is and was easy about  simple in and through art?

Kunst kann kreatives Spielbein, dabei aber kein Allheilmittel für Lösungen bzw. Antworten sein. Sie ist dennoch kein Luxus, sondern die Anhäufung kommunizierter subjektiver Dinge und daraus abgeleiteter Werte. Kunst kann sich zum Verhaltensentwurf, zur Vision, zum Statement oder Wiederspruch und vielleicht sogar Weltanschauung in Einem positionieren. Vielleicht ist Kunst nichts anderes, wie es FLUXUS gerne formuliert: spielerische und partizipative Geisteshaltung. Kunst spiegelt manchmal gesellschaftliche Regeln. Sie kann Motor für Diskurse, Begrenzungen, Einrahmungen, Weitsicht und Zukunft gleichzeitig sein. Ihre Rolle orientiert sich manchmal zwischen Avantgarde und musealem Konservieren und zeigt oft auch Rückwärtsgewandtheit. Sie beeinflusst das menschliche Verhalten. Sie ist deshalb auch als psychologischer Prozess in der Gesellschaft zu betrachten. Kunst ist nichts anderes als Leben. Auch auf einem Quadratmeter.

Art can be a creative mainstay, but not a panacea for solutions or answers. Nevertheless, it is not a luxury, but the accumulation of communicated subjective things and the values derived from them. Art can position itself as a behavioural blueprint, a vision, a statement or contradiction and perhaps even a world view in one. Perhaps art is nothing else, as FLUXUS likes to put it: a playful and participative mindset. Art sometimes reflects social rules. It can be a motor for discourse, limitations, framing, foresight and the future at the same time. Its role is sometimes orientated between avant-garde and museum-like preservation and often shows a backward-looking attitude. It influences human behaviour. It should therefore also be seen as a psychological process in society. Art is nothing other than life. Even on one square metre.

Oder vereinfacht formuliert: Kunst ist der Brutkasten für fragwürdige Dinge. Auf Föhr, auf dem Festland und dem Rest der Welt. Kunst ist deshalb Teil der öffentlichen Wahrnehmung und des sich daraus abzuleitenden gemeinsamen offenen Dialoges. 2025 steht auch im Fokus von einem Quadratmeter blühender Kunst. Or to put it simply: Art is the incubator for questionable things. On Föhr, on the mainland and in the rest of the world. Art is therefore part of public perception and the resulting open dialogue. 2025 is also the focus of one square metre of flourishing art. More information here

48 Wochen - 48 Quadrate - 48 Schiffe

Wie oben schon beschrieben, ist das Quadrat ist nichts anderes als ein gleichseitiges und gleichwinkliges Rechteck. Seinen Siegeszug begann das Quadrat im 20.Jahrhundert als Erdbeben in der Kunstgeschichte. Ein einfaches Quadrat auf einem weißen Stück Stoff, mit dem Malewitsch bewusst oder unbewusst durch die "reinste Form der Abstraktion"! ganze Künstlergenerationen verwirrt und beeinflusst hat. Mich natürlich seit dem Studium in den 80ern ebenfalls. Ich greife deshalb 2025 das Qudrat in seiner Form auf, um eventuell Avantgarde, Teilhabe, Wiederspruch und Diskurs zugleich erneut zu initiieren. Kein einfaches Unterfangen. Aber was ist und war schon an  und mittels der Kunst einfach? 9 Quadrate mit Schiffsmotiven sind bereits in Arbeit! 48 Exemplare sind das Ziel vis Ende 2025. Die Motive stammen aus meiner Arbeit "Lieber Schiffe verschenken, als Schiffe versenken", bei der 2023/24 über Wochen im öffentlichen Raum aus Kunst- und Modezeitschriften einzelne Seiten zu Schiffen mit Mast und Segel gefaltet, gestaltet und direkt bei Kommunikationskontakt "Was machen Sie da?" digital erfasst und zur Verwunderung vieler Zuschauer und Gäste verschenkt wurden.

Me too, of course, since my studies in the 80s. That's why I'm taking up the Qudrat in its form in 2025 in order to possibly reinitiate avantgarde, participation, contradiction and discourse at the same time. Not an easy endeavour. But what is and was easy in and through art? 9 squares with ship motifs are already in progress! 48 copies are the target by the end of 2025. The motifs come from my work ‘Lieber Schiffe verschenken, als Schiffe versenken’, in which individual pages from art and fashion magazines were folded into ships with masts and sails over a period of weeks in public space in 2023/24, designed and digitally captured directly during communication contact ‘What are you doing there?’ and given away to the amazement of many viewers and guests.

Das Spiel Schiffe versenken war/ist ein Symbolspiel, welches traditionell mittels Papier und Stift gespielt wird. Man nennt es auch Schiffchen versenken, Flottenmanöver, Kreuzerkrieg oder Seeschlacht. Es ist ein Spiel mit einfachen Mitteln. Entsprechend seinem Spielgedanken und der Bezeichnung gehört das harmlose Spiel gattungsgemäß zu den Kriegsspielen und ist aus aktuellen Anlässen vieler Kriegs- und Krisenherde in der Welt, weder zeitgemäß noch sinnvoll seine strategischen Fähigkeiten zu schulen. Mein Verschenken von Schiffen umgekehrt, die Problematik wieder aktualisiert und die Idee mit einfachen Mitteln erneut ins Bewußtsein gerückt.

Die 48 Quadrate die entstehen, werden auf Hartschaum im Format 20x20cm on demand gedruckt und mit einem Dekorahmen schwarzem PVC umrandet. Die Auflage pro Motiv liegt bei 5 Exemplaren. Jedes Exemplar wird individuell grafisch und malerisch überarbeitet. Stoff- und Papierfragmete ergänzen neben Teillackierung den individuellen Bildaufbau. Jede Arbeit wird nummeriert und signiert zum Preis von 50.00€ zuzüglich Porto und Verpackung angeboten. Als grafisches Experiment enstehen Doupletten im abstrahierten positiv-negativ Dialog, wie weiter unten dokumentiert.  Anfrage an moin@kunsteins.de

The 48 squares that are created are printed on hard foam in 20x20cm format on demand and edged with a decorative black PVC frame. The edition per motif is 5 copies. Each copy is individually reworked graphically and artistically. Fabric and paper fragments, as well as partial varnishing, complement the individual image composition. Each work is numbered and signed at a price of €50.00 plus postage and packaging.
